David Crowder Band - Shadows (Acoustic Version)

Life is full of light and shadow
O the joy and O the sorrow
O the sorrow

And yet will He bring
Dark to light
And yet will He bring
Day from night

When shadows fall on us
We will not fear
We will remember

When darkness falls on us
We will not fear
We will remember

When all seems lost
When we’re thrown and we’re tossed
We remember the cost
We rest in Him
Shadow of the cross

THE STAND - In Three Days - Christian Cassette (item 160268487089 end time Aug 29, 2009 06:43:49 MYT)

From the Unsigned.com entry on “The Stand”:

We are a  group of teens who love God and love using our God given gifts of music to honor Him.  We have been arround only for a few months playing in our drummers basement.  we are currently recording a few songs for our first demo.  More info later.

The innocence of youth, eh, Daniel?
Are you sure your rejection of Christianity was an intellectual phenomenon and not just a gut reaction to 80s hairstyles?
:)

Rich Mullins* - “If I Stand”

There’s more that rises in the morning than the sun
And more that shines in the night than just the moon
There’s more than just this fire here that keeps me warm
In a shelter that is larger than this room

And there’s a loyalty that’s deeper than mere sentiment
And a music higher than the songs that I can sing
The stuff of Earth competes for the allegiance
I owe only to the giver of all good things

Interesting fact: MWS played keys on this recording.

If you learn to love the language of once-unfamiliar [or disliked] kinds of music, you might learn to love the people who are tied to it, whom God loves.

Christians Aren’t Allowed To Be Music Snobs

*sigh*

Ignoring the irony of anyone thinking Christians are snobs of good music (COUGH), this one’s difficult for me. I can be pretty judgemental of certain types of music—mostly for substantive reasons like content, but also because I just dislike the genre.

Derek Webb - “Lover”

like a man comes to an alter i came into this town
with the world upon my shoulders and promises passed down
and i went into the water and my father, he was pleased
i built it and i’ll tear it down so you will be set free

but i found thieves and salesmen living in my father’s house
i know how they got in here and i know how to get ‘em out
i’m turning this place over from floor to balcony
and then just like these doves and sheep you will be set free

i’ve always been a lover from before i drew a breath
some things i loved easy and some i loved to death
because love’s no politician, it listens carefully
of those who come i can’t lose one, so you will be set free

but go on and take my picture, go on and make me up
i’ll still be your defender, you’ll be my missing son
and i’ll send out an army just to bring you back to me
because regardless of your brother’s lies you will be set free

i am my beloveds and my beloved’s mine
so you bring all your history and i’ll bring the bread and wine
and we’ll have us a party where all the drinks are on me
then as surely as the rising sun you will be set free
