The Republicans are going to lose the political tennis match over the stimulus. Here’s why.

  1. The vast majority of the country wants some sort of government intervention in the economy.
  2. The vast majority of the country doesn’t believe that we can tax cut our way out of this problem. Tax cuts didn’t prevent the problem. Why would they solve it?
  3. The Republicans don’t seem to be seriously offering anything else. It’s starting to look like a joke.

“Tax cuts didn’t prevent the problem.” But massively increasing government spending will? Pardon me for being skeptical.
