I have been inspired to be a better person in the face of this adversity. In truth, I found it shocking that the Mormon Church can’t find anything better to do with its money than to fight my marriage. How about attacking the trade in child sex slaves? Or global hunger? Surely there must be better things to battle than my tax-filing status.

Because it’s not really about tax status. It’s about not approving of or incentivizing a chosen relationship status that is a clear perversion (there, I said it) of natural human sexuality. It’s about not bestowing benefits to a social structure that does not promote stable families.
